Battery alerts for the Victron system you already run.
Keep VRM as your equipment dashboard. Ungrid adds scheduled, read-only monitoring, clear energy briefs, and Pro SMS for supported battery and High Load alerts.

Start with a working VRM installation.
Your installation must already be visible in Victron VRM and reporting usable energy readings. A Victron component on its own does not establish a working cloud connection or battery state-of-charge measurement.
Before connecting Ungrid, check that VRM shows the installation you intend to monitor and that its readings are current. Missing or stale data needs attention at the source; another monitoring service cannot reconstruct readings that never arrived.
Use the alarms you already have.
VRM already offers email and push notifications, communication monitoring, automatic alarms, and user-configurable alarm rules. Review those settings first. If native VRM alerts meet your needs, you may not need an additional service.
Ungrid brings supported battery, solar, aggregate load, and weather information into a daily Sunrise Energy Brief. Pro adds faster scheduled checks, SMS for battery and High Load alerts, a Sunset Reserve Outlook, and Storm Watch planning. Choose it for that additional interpretation and delivery, not because VRM lacks alarms.
Connect through your own VRM account.
Ungrid uses a VRM Personal Access Token from an account that can see your installation. Follow the in-app connection guide, test the connection, and choose the intended system. Enter the token only in the secure connection form; do not send it to support or Ask Ungrid.
Ungrid stores vendor credentials in Google Cloud Secret Manager and reads supported telemetry. It does not send control commands to Victron equipment. Your existing vendor controls remain separate.
Choose reserve thresholds for your system.
Set separate Low Battery and Critical Battery thresholds around the reserve you need and the response plan you can actually follow. Review them with your installer when appropriate. A threshold used in an example is not a recommendation for your battery chemistry or installation.
Illustrative example: a scheduled check confirms reserve has crossed your Low Battery threshold. The message gives you a reason to review flexible loads or backup options. Ungrid does not switch those loads or start backup equipment for you.
Plan for communication gaps.
Checks depend on fresh VRM data, cloud availability, and internet access. A five-minute check schedule is not a five-minute delivery guarantee, and a cloud alert is not equipment protection. Keep the equipment safeguards and local operating plan your system requires.
If a reading is stale, first check VRM and the installation connection. For equipment faults or configuration changes, use Victron documentation and qualified support. Ungrid provides monitoring context rather than an electrical diagnosis.
